DAY 13: SURVEY THE LAND

REFRESH:

Read: Judges 7

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

If you go to www.brandonyouth.com you will find a simple spiritual
survey.  Download 3-4 copies of this survey.  Your mission for today is
to ask three or four people to fill out the survey.

The purpose of this survey is to begin to dialogue with these people about who God is and their need for a Savior.  This is an important day and not one that you will want to miss.

Before you leave the house today ask God to open the hearts and minds of these three or four people ahead of time.

Make sure you read over the survey yourself and be prepared to answer any questions that your friends might have.

REFLECT:

How was your day? How did people respond? What did you learn?

DAY 12: FANTASTIC FOUR

REFRESH:

Read: Joshua 3-4

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

As you read Colossians 4:2-3 you will see Paul reminding us to look around and pray for others.  You are to spend today praying for the
person that sits in front of you, behind you, to your left, and to your right in your classes.

As you pray, ask yourself how you can be a light to them.  Get to know those sitting around you.  Consider leaving a note of encouragement for someone you prayed for during the day.

Adults you can do this too.  As you go through the day, pray for the
people around you.  Pray for your co-workers, your waitress at lunch, the person checking you out at the grocery store, and the driver next to you.

Did you know 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to pray continually?

REFLECT:

How was your day? Who did you pray for today? What did you learn?

DAY 11: LIFT 'EM UP

REFRESH:

Read: Numbers 14

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

Ever heard the phrase, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me?” This couldn’t be further from the truth!  Our words are very powerful.  In fact, Hebrews 3:13 challenges us to use them to encourage one another.

Today your challenge is to build people up!  List the names of three
people that you will encourage today.

1.

2.

3.

REFLECT:

How was your day? Did you encourage others? What did you learn?

DAY 10: DEMOLITION DAY

REFRESH:

Read: Exodus 20:1-17

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

2 Corinthians 7:1 reminds us that we need to get rid of everything that contaminates us.  This morning take a few minutes and look around your room and as you do ask Jesus to show you anything that is causing you to stumble in your faith.

Now its demo time!  That’s right – when items are revealed to you in
your room get rid of them!  Posters, video games, inappropriate clothes, cigarettes, videos, drugs, alcohol, magazines, etc.

Why stop with your room?  Look at your iPod, iPad, smart phone. Even look in your car.  Delete it!  Trash it!  Smash it!  But don’t sell it!

Even adults need to ask God about the things you need to change in your life to be a better follower of Jesus Christ.

REFLECT:

How was your day? Was it hard to demo? What did you learn?

DAY 09: LOVE THE FAM

REFRESH:

Read: Exodus 11:1 – 12:32

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

Today is all about the family! What act of kindness could you do for your parent/guardian that if you did it, it would surprise them and demonstrate your love for them?

Pick a chore or job that you can do to wow your parents.  Make sure you give it 100 percent.   Get creative!  Don’t just mow the lawn, trim the bushes and rake the yard too!   Make the family breakfast and be sure to clean up after its over!  Go the extra mile and be ready for them to question why you are doing this.

If you are an adult, do something special for the family.  Take them out to eat or just spend the day doing something fun together.  Don’t forget to pray for them as you serve them.

REFLECT:

How was your day? How did the family respond? What did you learn?

DAY 08: MIA's

REFRESH:

Read: Exodus 3-4

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

Today we are focusing on those that have been Missing in Action.  This is a person that has wandered away from God because they’re caught up in a sin, been hurt by religion or maybe they’ve just been too busy.

Take time this morning and pray for those you know that have wandered away from the church or God.   If possible, make an effort to speak to them during the day or write them an encouraging note letting them know that you miss them and you’re always available to listen to them.

Whatever you do, if the opportunity arises remember to listen to their hurt.  Their pain is real and most people won’t listen to us until we take the time to listen to them.  Invite them to join you for lunch or coffee.
Invite them to church with you. Let them know that God loves them very much.

REFLECT:

How was your day? Who did you talk too? What did you learn?

Ask God to show you anyone who you have held agrudge against.  Maybe it's a teacher, aparent, a youth leader, or a friend.

Before you go to school, make a list of those whomyou have held a grudge against.  Thenadmit the grudge and then give it to God.

If you think it would help the person who you’veheld the grudge against, talk to them about it.

DAY 05: PLEASE FORGIVE ME

-->

REFRESH:

Read: Job 38:1-21, 42:1-6

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

We’ve all hurt someone with our words or by our actions.  In Matthew 5 Jesus teaches how important it is to make things right between others and us even before we enter worship.

Take time today and ask God to reveal to you anyone (peers, teachers, family, etc.) who you need to ask forgiveness.  Then do it!

Say something like, “I understand that I’ve hurt you or disappointed you with my words or actions.  Please forgive me.”

Some people may not accept your request of forgiveness.  That’s okay!  Be kind and remember that you have been faithful to God’s Word!

How was your day? What did you see? What did you learn?

DAY 04: PICK IT UP!

REFRESH:

Read: Genesis 6:9-9:17

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

So imagine you’re walking to your second period class and you see
some trash on the floor.  What are you going to do?  Pick it up? Keep
on walking?  Today’s challenge is to pick up after others, whether they deserve it or not.

We want to model Jesus’ servant’s heart by serving others.  Pick up
trash like: soda cans, broken pencils, candy wrappers, etc.   Why are we doing this?  Because you care about your school and it’s your random
act of kindness.

Make sure to wear your RELENTLESS T-SHIRT today!

REFLECT:

How was your day? What did you see? What did you learn?

SUNDAY: BREAKFAST

Sunday is a really important day in the 40 days of Relentless.  It is a day we set aside to come together for worship, encouragement and to share what’s been going on during the week with fellow believers.  The author of Hebrews reminds us of this truth:

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.  And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”  Hebrews 10:23-25 (NLT)

Nothing is more important than taking this time to refresh ourselves so make sure not to miss worship this morning.  Today would also be a great time to reconnect with your prayer partner.  It’s also a great day to share your stories at facebook.com/40Relentless.

REFRESH YOURSELF! REFUEL YOUR SOUL!

DAY 03: PAY HOMAGE

REFRESH:

Read: Genesis 4:1-15

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

As we think back to when we decided to follow Jesus there is often a person that played a huge role in helping us make that decision – a parent, a pastor, or even a friend.

Today you are to write a note or call the person who influenced you to become a follower of Jesus.  Let them know how thankful you are for them.  If you can’t connect with that person then connect with the person who has most recently influenced your life.

Take some time today and write down your story of how you became a follower of Jesus Christ. Talk about how your life was before you met Jesus, how you met Jesus and what your life has been like since you met Jesus.  Be ready to share your story over the next 40 days!

REFLECT:

How was your day? Who did you pay homage to? What did you learn?

DAY 02: BLITZ YOUR ADMINISTRATOR

REFRESH:

Read: Genesis 3

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

Ephesians 4:29 challenges us to encourage those around us with
words that build others up.  Today you are challenged to write your
administrator (or boss) a note of appreciation.

It’s not easy being an administrator of a school and it is often a “thankless” job.  So your mission is to handwrite a “Thank You” note
and deliver it to your administrator in person!

Remember to be honest and sincere.  Don’t be fake!  If you know your administrator you may want to go as far as asking them if you can pray for them.

If you don’t go to school or work then write a note to someone of
importance to you.

REFLECT:

How was your day? How did it go? What did you learn?

PS: Don't forget to post your stories on Facebook at www.facebook.com/40relentless

DAY 01: PRAYER WALK

REFRESH:

Read: Genesis 1-2

Relate: What does this passage say about God? How does this apply to my life?

Respond: Take a moment and write your thoughts to God.

REVEAL:

Just like God promised Joshua that He would give him every place he set his foot (Joshua 1:3,7) He will do the same for you.

Spend time today praying for your peers, teachers, administrators and neighbors as you walk around your campus and neighborhood.

Stop at different places throughout the day and pray.  Be specific.  Make sure you don’t rush this.  As a family, take time to walk around the neighborhood when you get home - praying for those that live near you.

Ask God to give you every place you set your foot.

REFLECT:

How was your day? What did you see? What did you learn?

DAY OO: SENT OUT

Ready...set...go!

Hebrews 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. So, therefore we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.”

As we prepare to enter into the next 40 days:

Will you pray for the unbelieving people at your school, work and who live in your neighborhood?

Will you commit to daily renew, reveal and reflect over the next 40 days to the best of your ability?

What will you sacrifice and fast over the next 40 days?

Will you commit to finding a prayer partner in the next two days?

The 40: RELENTLESS COVENANT

 • I commit to doing my best to pray for the unbelieving people around me.

 • I commit to daily renewing my soul by reading God’s Word and praying.

 • I commit to reveal the love of God to those around me through various acts of kindness.

 • I commit to spend time reflecting on my day with my family and myself each day.

 • I do all of this knowing that God wants to use me to spread His love and to bring glory to His name!
